Need a change

I have this dining table for a few years now and I always loved the wood and it's tough look.
It was a present from an uncle, so it has also a personal value.
But, for some reason I don't think it's the thing for our new home...something is just missing. So, I could bay a new one, or just paint it in a new color...white?
What do you thing...any good ideas?
